The Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Hungarian short name: MTA TTK) has carried out multidisciplinary research activities in natural sciences, particularly in the fields of enzymology, organic chemistry, molecular pharmacology, cognitive neuroscience and psychology, as well as materials- and environmental chemistry.
Focus areas of research in health science and a multi-disciplinary environment provided by MTA TTK have created optimal conditions for research conducted in the institutes of the research centre, in the following fields of science: biology, chemistry, pharmacology and drug, cognitive neuroscience and psychology, materials- and environmental science.
The Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences has had a great scientific, technical, educational and social mission to fulfil; it is acting as a publicly financed professional research centre in Hungary and on the larger scale in the European Union, too. More than 60% of the 500 employees are researchers, of which approx. 215 have scientific degrees.
The aim of the Research Centre is to achieve internationally acknowledged, significant scientific results; to maintain cooperation with universities and research institutions from Hungary and other countries, as well as with economic and social stakeholders. Our staff is traditionally active in the field of education and scientific training, thus MTA TTK’s priorities also include taking responsibility for the training of high-level future researchers / scientists.
The Research Centre includes the institutes: the Institutes of Enzymology and Molecular Pharmacology, the Institute of Organic Chemistry, the Institute of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, as well as the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology.
