About the employer

The LabEx CelTisPhyBio is a research structure that cultivates strong collaborations between Physics and Cell Biology research teams at the Insitut Curie, the Curie Hospital and the ESPCI.

The fostered interactions are aimed at developing quantitative cell biology approaches based on the physical properties of cells, not only at the single cell level but also at the level of the collective behavior of cells within a tissue. The long-term aim of these studies is to apply the results to cancer and tumor growth research and to the development of new therapeutic approaches.

Research

The Institut Curie is a foundation of public interest, which combines the largest French oncology research center and two state-of-the-art hospitals. This hospital structure has pioneered many treatments. It is a center of excellence for the treatment of breast cancer, pediatric tumors and ocular tumors, and it disseminates medical and scientific innovations in France and abroad.

Founded in 1909 on a model devised by Marie Curie and still at the cutting edge: “from fundamental research to innovative treatments”, the Institut Curie has 3,000 researchers, physicians, clinicians, technicians and administrative staff.

A word from Bruno Goud and Maxime Dahan :

Research at the interface between physics and biology has been intensely pursued over the last 15 years at the Institut Curie. Nowadays, it is a hallmark of the Institut and greatly contributes to its international reputation. The main ambition of our Labex is to give a new impulse to the collaborations between physicists and biologists. Since its inception last year, several actions have been initiated, including a post-doctoral program that has allowed the funding of 5 post-docs and 6 research projects, the recruitment of one engineer for the imaging platform and the creation of one Chair of Excellence.  In the coming years, we wish to amplify these actions in order to strengthen the links between the Labex teams and to favor the emergence of new collaborative and ambitious projects. With this first Labex retreat, we had the opportunity to know better each other, both scientifically and personally, and also to discuss how the Labex can further help the research
