The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and
in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary, and together we contribute to science and society.

Your role

The Scienteens Lab - De Labo fir Jonker - is the first research lab for high-school students and adults in Luxembourg. It is an extracurricular learning center of the University of Luxembourg that develops and offers workshops designed to spark the interest of high-school students and adults in science, show them the latest trends and technologies in research and support scientific literacy. Moreover, it supports high school students in their career choice. Hands-on experiments, supervised by experienced scientists from various disciplines, provide the participants with an insight into scientific research and the day-to-day work in the lab. The workshops currently address relevant topics in biology, mathematics, computer science, physics and sustainability.

The University of Luxembourg is seeking to make an appointment within the Scienteens Lab as soon as possible for a three-year position to familiarize groups of adults with various topics around sustainability, whether on campus or at corporate sites, to deepen their understanding of sustainability with the overall goal of creating a self-responsible community. After the activities, participants will have an essential knowledge of sustainability that they can share, reflect on their habits, and adopt at least one new habit towards sustainability.

More specifically:

  • Identify and engage new participant groups across Luxembourg , who are interested in promoting sustainability topics within their local communities and companies
  • Design and adapt educational workshops on sustainability topics, tailored to adult learners, with a strong focus on didactic principles
  • Coordinate and conduct hands-on workshops for adults, acting as the primary trainer and facilitator
  • Evaluate existing workshops
    • Interpret feedback and data to assess impact and effectiveness
    • Continuously improving activities based on evaluation outcomes and the latest scientific research
  • Foster national and international collaborations with relevant partners and stakeholders
  • Prepare funding applications and project reports for submission to funding agencies

Your profile

  • Master's degree in Sustainability or a related field
  • Strong interest and motivation to contribute to sustainability education and outreach
  • Proven experience in science communication, public outreach, or teaching activities
  • Excellent team spirit with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid project management and organizational abilities
  • High level of autonomy and problem-solving skills, especially in complex and multidimensional contexts
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, potentially with varying interests
  • Multilingual: Fluency in German or French and a strong command of English are required; knowledge of Luxembourgish is considered an asset
