The Department of Life Sciences and Medicine (DLSM) is part of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University of Luxembourg. DLSM is coordinating all teaching programmes in the life sciences, medicine, nursing and midwifery. Research at the department integrate basic and translational, molecular and computational approaches with a focus on cancer biology, as well as clinical research projects in human health and disease.

Your role

Medical and health sciences education at the University of Luxembourg are rapidly growing and are strategic areas of development for both the University and the government of Luxembourg. To effectively foster high quality teaching within the recently created study programmes, namely a bachelor in medicine, several nursing sciences programmes as well as midwifery, the University of Luxembourg is recruiting for the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) a Assistant Professor in clinical imaging.

The Faculty of Science, Technology, and Medicine at the University of Luxembourg strives for excellence in the education and research of medicine, biomedical sciences and allied health professions. In 2023, the University launched four Bachelors of Science in specialized nursing programs - Bachelors in the fields of surgery, anaesthesia/resuscitation, paediatrics, and mental health. A fifth program 'Bachelor of Nursing in General Care' started in September 2024, while two more bachelors programs - Midwifery and radiographer/clinical imaging - are set to commence in September 2025. These programs are organized by combining theoretical training as well as simulations using the latest technology with practical training in hospitals, outpatient clinics and care centers, in collaboration with various institutions in the country and abroad. Due to the expansion of educational and research programs in allied health professions, we are now recruiting a professor in clinical imaging to further strengthen education and research efforts.

The professor will be appointed to the university on a full-time basis and will have a leadership role in building and coordinating the training of radiographers/experts in clinical imaging technologies. The academic position will have responsibilities split between teaching and research, with a primary focus on teaching duties. Involvement in professional clinical activity can be considered.

Teaching portfolio: The holder of this position is expected to co-build, co-direct, and teach in the Bachelor's program in clinical imaging technologies and related fields. The person will be involved in the selection of students, the establishment of the training plan for radiographers, the organisation of theoretical and practical teaching, the evaluation of programs, in close cooperation with the teachers and tutors of the clinical placements. These efforts will be based on the collaborative and joint work of professors, teachers and researchers from the different health programs of the university, including medicine, biology, midwifery, and nursing as well as computer sciences.

Research portfolio: The holder of this position will have the possibility to develop a research line according to the candidate's interest within the general framework of improving public health, in collaboration with internal partners from the various Faculties and Interdisciplinary Centres, as well as with national and international partners.

Your profile

  • A radiographer or radiologist degree with clinical experience in clinical imaging
  • A doctorate (PhD) in a related scientific discipline
  • Field experience in radiographers' education, including theoretical teaching and supervision of trainees
  • Knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practices. Experience in curriculum design and directing of educational programs at the university level
  • Internationally recognized research experience as evidenced by international publications in the field of clinical imaging, public health or related fields
  • Administrative and management experience
  • Connections to clinical imaging departments in international universities and European radiographer societies
  • Open and collaborative mindset, ability to work in a team, and to foster a positive working environment
  • Leadership and mentoring qualities
  • Independent, solution-oriented, and creative
  • Commitment to work with students and deliver high-quality teaching


Language requirements:
