Your Responsibilities
Independent research with focus on the molecular mechanisms and pharmacological modulation of cellular degeneration; strengthening of the Institute’s research priority aging and cell death
Cooperation with established research groups at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences as well as with the field of excellence "BioHealth"
Contribution to teaching in molecular biology, microbiology and biochemistry
supervision of Bachelor-, Masters- and Ph.D. theses
Participation in organizational and administrative tasks and evaluation activities
Your Profile
Ph.D. or equivalent in biology, microbiology, molecular biology or biochemistry
International scientific track record in a relevant field of biological stress response, preferably with impact on aging and cell death research
Practical expertise in the work with model organisms (S. cerevisiae, C. elegans and/or D. melanogaster)
Practical knowledge of microbiological work in the laboratory area of security level 2 (BSL-2), preferably with fungal pathogens (especially Candida spp.)
Practical knowledge with CRISPR-Cas9 technology
Didactic competence to participate in teaching of microbiology/molecular biology/biochemistry on university undergraduate and graduate levels
Very good knowledge of the German and English languages (equivalent to level C1 or higher)
Theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of infection biology, cell death, large-scale screenings and polyphenols (desirable)
Experience as a “peer reviewer” and/or editor of international journals (desirable)
Capacity for responsible, independent work
