About our Campus: The Ein Kerem campus of the Hebrew University, established in 1960, is in southwestern Jerusalem. This campus hosts the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Dentistry, located next to Hadassah Hospital, one of the city’s main medical centers. It also is also home to other healthcare programs, including the School of Pharmacology, the School of Nursing, the School of Occupational Therapy, and the School of Public Health. The Ein Kerem campus is a central hub for medical and health-related education and research at the University.
About Our Department: The School of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmacology is at the forefront of drug development, molecular medicine, and integrative biomedical research. With a strong focus on the mechanisms behind disease and the development of novel therapeutic strategies, the Department supports innovation at every level—from molecular pharmacology to systems physiology. We are committed to training scientists with a strong translational vision, bridging lab discoveries with real-world clinical impact.

About Our Research: This post-doctoral position is part of a transformative research initiative exploring the interface of diet, metabolism, behavior, and health. The project investigates how dietary quality, stress, and the gut-brain-periphery axis interact to influence metabolic disorders such as obesity. Special emphasis is placed on the role of the endocannabinoid system—particularly the CB1 receptor—and its pharmacological modulation. The research employs cutting-edge methodologies including behavioral models, omics analyses, and molecular biology techniques to decode the physiological mechanisms linking lifestyle and disease.

Job Description: We invite outstanding post-doctoral candidates to join the Tam Lab, a globally recognized group specializing in translational metabolism research. The fellow will take part in advanced investigations into metabolic regulation, diet-induced obesity, and pharmacological interventions targeting cannabinoid pathways. The position involves working with animal models, bioinformatics tools, and molecular assays. This is a full-time research role situated within a dynamic international team, ideal for researchers driven to bridge scientific discovery with therapeutic applications. Visit the Tam Lab: www.thetamlab.com.

About Your Supervisor: Prof. Joseph Tam is the Director of the Multidisciplinary Center on Cannabinoid Research and a world-renowned expert in translational pharmacology and metabolism. His lab pioneers research on the endocannabinoid system, focusing on its role in metabolic diseases, neuroinflammation, and stress. Prof. Tam’s work has led to the identification of novel drug targets and the development of innovative therapeutic strategies. Known for his scientific excellence, mentorship, and collaborative leadership, he is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of biomedical researchers.

Funding:

Monthly stipend of $2,500 USD
