WSL invites for applications for the position as
Group Leader Soil Functions and Soil Protection 80-100% (f/m/d)
You will scientifically and strategically lead and manage a group engaged in soil function research with a strong focus on forest soils and a special emphasis on water and nutrient supply to plants as affected by climatic changes and forest management. This comprises a broad spectrum from basic research into soil-plant-atmosphere interactions over applied questions in soil inventories, soil function mapping, and soil protection during tree harvesting. As a distinguished soil scientist, you will lead your own research projects including acquisition of third-party funding, supervision of junior staff such as postdocs and Ph.D. students and communicating your results to the scientific community. To this end, you interact closely with your colleagues across WSL in the fields of forest ecology and management, biodiversity, landscape science and natural hazards. As the new WSL strategy emphasizes the importance of transdisciplinary research, we expect you to engage with key stakeholders in your field in order to provide solutions for the management of Swiss forests. Additionally, you may be involved in teaching at ETH and/or universities.
