Job Description:

The Chemical and Biochemical Sciences-Green Process Engineering (CBS) at the University of Mohammed VI Polytechnic, Benguerir, Morocco, is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Position in Microbial Genomics. The successful candidate will be part of the CBS and will conduct research in the field of soil microbiome through multi-omics approaches, including metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metabolomics. This project focuses on understanding the functional potential and activity of bacteria and their interactions with the soil community and plants.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct wet lab experiments to extract, prepare, and sequence metagenomic, metatranscriptomic, and metabolomic samples from soil and plant-associated microbiomes. 
• Perform microbial culturing, DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation, and analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry and chromatography for metabolomics. 
• Integrate and interpret multi-omics datasets to understand microbial community dynamics and interactions. 
• Collaborate with bioinformaticians and apply computational tools for data processing, assembly, and annotation. 
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences. 

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Microbial Genomics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Strong experience in wet lab techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, sequencing library preparation, and metabolite profiling.
• Background in bioinformatics for metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analysis is a plus. 
• Experience with microbial ecology and understanding of plant-microbe interactions is desirable. 
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
