Stay tuned for the next application round which will start in September 2026!
The Graduate School Life Science Munich (LSM) will be opening applications for its international doctoral programme in September 2026. Join a community of motivated and highly qualified researchers at one of Europe's leading universities — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU).
A World-Class Research Environment The LSM brings together the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy, and the Medical Faculty of LMU — all ranked among Germany's top institutions in biology and biochemistry. Together with the LMU Gene Center and the University Hospital (LMU Klinikum), the LSM is part of the HighTechCampus Großhadern-Martinsried, a globally recognised hub for cutting-edge life sciences research south of Munich.
Your Doctoral Journey As an LSM doctoral candidate, you will become part of a vibrant, diverse, and truly international research community. We value interdisciplinarity — exposing you to new perspectives, expanding your research network, and equipping you with the skills to tackle complex scientific challenges. Our programme prepares the next generation of life scientists for the era of molecular and systems-oriented biosciences through hands-on research, workshops, and seminars that build both scientific and transferable skills.
Support Every Step of the Way The LSM Coordination Office, Student Council, and LSM Buddy Initiative are here to support you — from administrative matters to a smooth arrival and onboarding in Munich.
Save the Date Applications will open on 1 September 2026 and close on 20 October 2026. Stay tuned for more information —
