The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH (www.leibniz-zmt.de) is an independent research and teaching institute that provides scientific knowledge for the protection and sustainable use of tropical coastal ecosystems. To this end, we work in an inter- and transdisciplinary manner with our partners in the tropics. The ZMT is a member of the Leibniz Association.

Starting in January 2025, the strategic institute extension ‘Modelling socio-economic dimensions across Tropical Coastal Ecosystems and the Earth System - TropEcS’ has been implemented at ZMT. With this extension (Sondertatbestand), ZMT is strengthening its capacities in the field of modelling and adding predictive aspects to its existing research programmes. The institute’s five Programme Areas (PAs) are interdisciplinary and work collaboratively towards achieving ZMT’s mission. This position will be located in and contributing to PA 5 on ’Ocean Literacy, Equity and Leadership’ which is about understanding and integrating various kinds of knowledges, their contributions to societal impact of ZMT’s research, and further developing capacities and partnerships that are required for sustainable oceans and coasts for generations to come. As a driving force at ZMT for societal impact and transdisciplinary research, PA5 is developing its expertise to contribute to TropEcS and its related exciting research developments, for which we are now looking to fill (subject to release of funds) the position of an:
