The Pediatric Oncology Research group in the Department of Oncology is seeking a proactive, independent research associate who is eager to contribute to an international project aimed at improving psychosocial care in pediatric oncology. This part-time position (0.5FTE) will focus on a specific project over a three-year period.

Responsibilities

You will contribute to a large-scale international initiative aimed at improving psychosocial care for children with cancer across Europe. Key activities of this project include the development of care standards, mapping of existing services, professional training, and the implementation of psychosocial care tools. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the development of training materials for healthcare providers, working closely with affiliated project partners. You will also collaborate with experts to develop interdisciplinary training and education resources, and advocate for equitable access to training and care across European countries. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements. Depending on your experience and interests, there may be opportunities to contribute to research in psycho-oncology, including data analysis and academic writing. 

Profile

We are seeking a collaborative, well-organized, and culturally sensitive professional with a strong background in research and coordination, and a passion for improving psychosocial care for children with cancer across diverse European contexts. 

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Proven experience in project management and administrative coordination is essential.
  • Experience in pediatric healthcare settings is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in training and education.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration abilities.
  • Critical thinker with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, international team environment.

Offer

We offer the opportunity to be part of a highly innovative and internationally recognized initiative, in close collaboration with a European consortium. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team Pediatric Oncology within the Department of Oncology at KU Leuven and collaborate closely with clinical experts from UZ Leuven and other leading pediatric oncology centers.

The initial contract of 0.5 FTE is for one year, with the possibility of extension for an additional two years upon positive evaluation. The candidate will receive guidance and mentorship from senior researchers at KU Leuven/UZ Leuven and international project partners.
