Job description

The aim of the WASP-HS research group on autonomous systems and robotics in society (https://robotsinsociety.blogs.dsv.su.se/) is to advance the critical interactional study and design of autonomous systems and robotics in society. This postdoc will join this research group to develop interaction design research on robotics and autonomous systems as it meets the body. You will consider what appropriate robotic touch could be like and how to orchestrate negotiations of proximity in human–robot
interaction. This also involves considering which bodies get designed for and are expected by
robots as solidified in their design.

The postdoc will be conducted within the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program – Humanity and Society (WASP-HS - https://wasp-hs.org/).

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. The subject of the degree should be human aspects of ICT, human computer interaction, or design. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • It is commendable if you have experience designing for the body, or in using soma design
  • As a researcher we prefer if you have knowledge and skills in engaging with feminist theories to help conceptualise your work
  • We prefer that you have experience of working within an interdisciplinary team, and particularly between the social sciences and humanities subjects
  • It is preferred if you have capabilities that enable you to build medium fidelity physical prototypes 

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
