Who are we?
DYNECO is an Ifremer laboratory aiming at studying the response of coastal ecosystems to anthropogenic and natural disturbances. (https://dyneco.ifremer.fr/en). DYNECO's pelagic ecology team investigates coastal pelagic ecosystems submitted to climate and human changes. The team brings together some thirty researchers, engineers, technicians and PhD students to work on national and international projects (https://dyneco.ifremer.fr/Qui-sommes-nous/Ecologie-pelagique-PELAGOS/PELAGOS/PROJETS), drawing on skills in biogeochemistry, molecular biology, ecology and numerical modelling.
What will your mission BE?
We are recruiting an engineer to join our team and BE in charge of the development and deployment of deterministic numerical models of coastal ecosystems. We are offering you the opportunity to contribute to the enrichment and promotion of the CROCO community code (Coastal and Regional Ocean COmmunity model, https://www.croco-ocean.org/), particularly in its ecological and biogeochemical dimensions. This code has just been accredited by the national institute for earth sciences (INSU) and is part if the French Littoral and Coastal Research Infrastructure (IR ILICO : https://www.ir-ilico.fr/?PagePrincipale).
You will BE in charge of monitoring and developing biogeochemical codes dedicated to the integrated study of anthropogenic pressures on coastal ecosystems. The BLOOM code will initially BE given priority, as IT is already being coupled with the CROCO and MUSTANG models (https://croco-ocean.gitlabpages.inria.fr/croco\_doc/model/model.modules.sediment\_mustang.html). You will BE responsible for keeping these codes operational and portable. You will contribute to the publication of a detailed and didactic documentation, and to the training of new users.
You will also BE responsible for leading the national and international community involved in coupled physical-biological biogeochemical modeling in coastal environments.
What will your activities BE?
Your main tasks will BE :
- To maintain the state-of-the-art coupled physical/biological modelling codes developed in the laboratory (BLOOM module), with detailed and didactic online documentation,
- To continue improving the coupling of biogeochemical codes with the community code CROCO, to enrich their diversity and propose innovations,
- To contribute to the implementation of regional simulations of climate scenarios within structuring projects at Ifremer (e. g. PPR RIOMAR : https://riomar.lsce.ipsl.fr/, PPR MEDIATION : https://oceansconnectes.org/mediation),
- To collaborate with DYNECO's technicians, engineers and researchers Ifremer in general
- (LOPS, HALGO, PHYTNESS, COAST) and its scientific partners (CNRS, Universities).
You will contribute to the coordination of the national and international community involved in coupled physical-biological biogeochemical modelling in coastal environments.

Join Ifremer, an ally of planetary well-being, to gain a better understanding of and better protection for the ocean.
From the abyss to the surface, from the coast to the open SEA, Ifremer is the French research institute that is wholly dedicated to the Ocean. Its teams carry out research, innovate and produce expert reports to protect the ocean, exploit its resources in a responsible manner and shares marine data.
Ifremer contributes its scientific expertise to throw light on public policies and develops solutions drawn from the ocean to meet the challenges of the ecological transition. Ifremer is the operator of France's oceanographic fleet with its shipbuilding subsidiary Genavir, and imagines, designs and deploys leading edge technological means to solve the ocean's mysteries.
Join our teams, made up of 1500 scientists and research support staff, present all along the coastal areas of France and French overseas territories.
