YOUR TASKS
- At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in the field of brewery and fermentation technology, in line with the research lines within the department. These include beer flavor stability, the development of NABLAB and alternative fermented beverages, and the use of alternative grains, yeasts, and hop products.
- You contribute to the education of the BW25 department according to the prevailing educational needs, including the organization of contact hours for Biotechnological Project I700230, Malting and Brewing Technology (I700265), Practical Studies in Biotechnology (I700242).
- You supervise master's level students in the context of exercises, internships, and master's theses.
- You will counsel doctoral students.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a doctoral degree (preferably) a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences, PhD in Sciences: Biochemistry and Biotechnology or an equivalent diploma. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
- For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
- You have already conducted research within the field of industrial microbiology and fermentation technology, preferably in an applied or industry-oriented context. Experience with malting and brewing is a plus.
- You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate
- You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programmes.
- You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a temporary appointment of 3 years. A second appointment of up to 3 years can follow, subject to a favourable evaluation of the first term
- Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to three years, you can apply.
- The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term Your appointment will start on 1 November 2025 at the earliest
