Description of the research activity:

The project involves the analysis of remote sensing data, particularly LiDAR data, to investigate various aspects of plant and animal biodiversity. The relationship between structural heterogeneity and plant diversity—assessed through various field and laboratory measurements—will be analyzed using LiDAR data collected from drones, aircraft, and satellites. Biodiversity indicators derived from remote sensing data will be used to characterize animal diversity and movement patterns. Finally, information on forest structure, diversity, and growth will be extracted to support the characterization and modeling of future forest development scenarios. It is specified that, in the period following the end of the project, the activities assigned to the selected candidate will consist exclusively of residual project tasks, such as dissemination of results, final reporting, and completion of administrative and project closure procedures.
