The SCF's centralized instrument pool is accompanied by expert service provided by staff who offer instrument training, hardware and software maintenance, instrument operator service, advice on sample preparation, assay design data analysis, and data management. As a member of the SCF, you will perform flow cytometry analysis and cell sorts, instrument maintenance, and user training related to a wide variety of biology and biotechnology projects. The flow cytometry instrument portfolio of the SCF currently consists of 7 sorters and 7 analyzers offering a wide range of high-end features such as spectral and image analysis-based sorting.

We are looking for an experienced flow cytometry expert with a proven track record in the use and maintenance of flow cytometry instrumentation who is interested in working in a diverse, international and innovative environment.

Your responsibilities:

• All aspects of flow cytometry sorter and analyzer operation, including quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on a wide range of flow cytometry instruments, such as the BD Fortessa, Melody, Aria Fusion, ARIAIII, Discover S8, BC CytoFLEX, Cytek Aurora, and SONY ID 7000, MA900, SH800.
• Sample preparation, panel development and data analysis (low and high parametric data).
• Training, user support and expert advice on experimental design, data analysis and interpretation of results
• Organization of logistical aspects of the service schedule, participation in lab management and teaching curriculum.

• PhD in life sciences, preferably cell biology, microbiology, genetics or similar.
• Track record of hands-on experience with multiple types of state-of-the-art flow cytometry. Previous experience with spectral analysis is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of quantitative cell analysis and high-speed cell sorting including the analysis of flow cytometry data applying various software analysis tools.
• Experience in panel design and validating of assays.
• Good knowledge of optical principles and practical skills in hardware maintenance and tuning.
• Previous work in a scientific flow cytometry facility is a plus.

This position requires very good communication skills in English to interact with researchers, and a commitment to adapt to the service-oriented nature of the facility to successfully support scientific research and operations at the D-BSSE. In addition to excellent technical skills in the field of flow cytometry, you must be an excellent team player and able to adapt to a diverse working environment.
