20 funded positions for doctoral researchers

Åbo Akademi University welcomes applications to 20 funded positions for doctoral researchers (max. 48 months/position).

The positions are located at the four faculties of Åbo Akademi University: The Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology; the Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies; the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Economics. The faculty campuses are located in Turku or Vaasa.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

An employment as doctoral researcher may start September 1, 2025, or as per agreed.

The salary for a doctoral position will be based on levels 2-4 of the job demand level for teaching and researching staff in the salary system. Currently, the starting salary for doctoral researchers is approximately 2580 € per month. The salary increases as the candidate makes progress towards a doctoral degree.

The working hours for doctoral researchers are 1,612 hours per academic year. The employment is fulltime. The individual study plan for doctoral researchers is evaluated annually. A trial period applies to new employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

This announcement is open for those who have a master's degree AND a supervisor or a potential supervisor from Åbo Akademi University (who has agreed to supervise the applicant) within any of the subjects represented at the faculties. Applicants must have received their master's degree (or equivalent) by June 30th, 2025, at the latest. 

Please note that there is a separate application process for the admission to a doctoral programme at ÅAU.
