We have an exciting opportunity for a Application Scientist to join our COSMIC team at Wellcome Sanger Institute on a Permanent basis.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for being the COSMIC product and subject matter expert (somatic oncology) and providing outstanding support, training and assistance to COSMIC’s commercial users.
You will support the sales of the COSMIC platform to Pharma, Biotech and Clinical labs and interact with both laboratory and BioIT audiences at every level within these organisations to establish the technical value of COSMIC’s solutions. You will be the customer’s trusted technical consultant as well as providing real-time feedback and input to the product development team.
You will support client institutions to show COSMIC features and capabilities, supporting minor data manipulation requests and advising the client institution on process improvements. Working closely with the sales team, you will proactively engage with customers and prospects to demonstrate our products and effectively communicate the key advantages and differentiators. Tying together the technical requirements and the business requirements is an important skill for this position.
About You:
You must have a passion for cancer biology, NGS and related applications, and experience with computer software. Previous industry experience in a technical support and customer-facing role is essential, as well as excellent presentation and communications skills.

COSMIC is the key information source in global human cancer research and is growing rapidly in content, scope, and value. We exist to speed up the field of precision oncology so that every cancer journey can be tailored, accurate, and precise. We do this by streamlining and simplifying genomics data analysis for better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment research.
Other Information:
We operate a hybrid working pattern with the requirement of a minimum 2 - 3 days working onsite.
There will be occasional travel to conferences and spending time at customer sites.
