About us

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) at the University of Luxembourg is an interdisciplinary research centre committed to high-quality research and public dissemination in the field of contemporary history with a particular focus on digital methods and tools.
The C²DH's ambition is to venture off the beaten track and find new ways of doing,
teaching and presenting contemporary history of Luxembourg and the history of Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries. It serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative scholarship and new forms of public dissemination.

Your role

  • Develop own public history research project
  • Contribute to the organisation of events, e.g., conferences, workshops, series, on public history in global context
  • Develop ethical frameworks and good practices for public history projects in a global context
  • Design and teach two courses per year - possibly in the Master in Digital and Public History
  • Coordinate joint activities with international partners
  • Work on funding applications to develop public history activities in global context

Your profile

  • PhD in history, anthropology, cultural studies, museum and archival studies, social studies, information and communications technology, global or area studies, or related field
  • Research experience in or about areas other than Europe and North America
  • Experience required in coproduction and/or participatory practices
  • Experience required in project management and event organisation
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in a second language is considered an asset

  • PhD diploma or a letter/information indicating the expected defense date

  • A short project description (maximum 1500 words) with clear research objectives
  • List of publications
  • Names, contact information and current position of 1-2 referees who can, upon request, provide an assessment of the application. Please indicate their relationship to you
