Your future responsibilities

Are you passionate about photonic technology and looking for a role that will challenge and inspire you? Join us as a Junior Research Engineer / Research Engineer in Photonic Micro-Assembly and be part of a dynamic, international team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of electronic and optical device integration.

  • Develop semi-manual and automated assembly processes for the integration of electronic and optical devices on various handling systems.
  • Test, debug and document new processes and recipes.
  • Perform tasks according to project requirements and develop standard assembly processes, contract research services.
  • Provide expertise and solutions to assembly related projects.
  • Maintain and repair various assembly machines. 
  • Assist in the selection and procurement of machine parts.
  • Set up and carry out measuring and testing procedures.
  • Writing reports and presenting project findings.

Your profile

  • Technical college (HTL) with 3 years of experience, or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or physics (mechatronics or related fields). Work experience is a plus.
  • Advanced practical knowledge of mechatronics.
  • Programming skills in C, LabView, Python, or similar languages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with automation and process control as well as machine vision algorithms.
  • Experience in operation, maintenance and taking care of electromechanical machines (experience with Ficontec, or automated die-bonding machines is an advantage).
  • Knowledge of electronic/optical devices, with particular. emphasis on testing and instrumentation. 
  • Experience in test and measurement.
  • Enjoy working in an international team and collaborate effectively.
  • Handle delicate parts with care and precision.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for tackling different topics.
  • Openness to learning new things and continuous improvement.
  • Good command of English, German is an advantage
  • Willing to relocate to Villach/Austria.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group C. We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications. For this position, your minimum monthly gross salary starts with EUR 2.681, paid 14 times a year.
