The Department of Agroindustry, Food and Nutrition of the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture of University of São Paulo – ESALQ/USP, located in the city of Piracicaba, São Paulo State, Brazil offers a post-doctoral position with scholarship granted by São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
Candidates must have a degree preferably in Food Science, Animal Science, Agronomy, or Veterinary Medicine, have completed their doctorate less than seven years ago, ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, have no employment relationship, must be fluent in English, should dedicate themselves exclusively to the research project. The candidates also must have knowledge of the English language to read and write scientific reports and papers. For the latter, it is preferred that the candidates have experience in research abroad.
The post-doctoral researcher will work on the FAPESP-funded Thematic Project entitled “Beef quality in Bos Indicuscattle - biological markers for meat attributes in different ultimate pH ranges” (grant number 2017 / 26667-2). The candidate must have proven experience in research in this area and participated in projects related to the Meat Science and Quality, preferably in beef physical and chemical analysis.
The fellow activities involves:
- Coordination and organization of the project schedule;
- Survey of the final pH in carcasses in different slaughterhouses and at different times of the year;
- Classification of the Latissimus. dorsi muscles in the three pH ranges;
- Physical-chemical characterization of beef samples and others experiments;
- Coordination of the undergraduate and graduate students team;
- Preparation of the scientific reports required by FAPESP, in collaboration with other post-doctoral fellows, professors and advisors;
- Writing and submition of the scientific papers as well as the presentation of the project results in international meetings and workshops.

The vacancy is open to Brazilians and foreigners. The duration of the post-doctoral fellowship will be 24 months. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.Leer más
