Job description

The Social Robotics group from the division of Robotics, Perception and Learning at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on:

  • Understanding and designing effective group human-robot interactions.
  • Developing novel methods and machine learning based models for robots to learn and adapt social behaviors in multi-user settings.

The position involves conducting experiments, training ML models, publishing high-impact research, and contributing to advancements in robotics, artificial intelligence, and social cognition.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Lead research on algorithms or systems enabling robots to perceive, interpret, and exhibit appropriate social behaviors in groups.
  • Design and implement data-collection studies involving human participants to evaluate robot interactions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including roboticists, psychologists, and social scientists.
  • Publish findings in top-tier journals and conferences.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
  • Experience with a variety of coding frameworks and languages, e.g., ROS, Unity, NodeJS, Python, C#
  • Experience with a variety of social robots, e.g., Pepper, Nao, Cozmo
  • A strong publication record in HRI related venues, such as ACM/IEEE HRI, RSS, and THRI
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunities issues with a particular focus on gender equality
  • As a person, you are independent in your work and have no problem collaborating with others

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
