The project Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing automated solutions for various projects within our organization.

What you will do

At imec the project Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing automated solutions for various projects within our organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, and you will manage the automatization part of the project. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in automation technologies, programming experience and a proactive approach to process optimization. 

Responsibilities: 

  • You will provide specialized technical advice and support in industrial automation.
  • You lead the automation part of projects (facility installations in clean room spaces) 
  • You can prepare project plans, including milestones and deadlines.
  • You can draft and/or check detailed specifications, user requirements and functional descriptions, bills of quantities, P&IDs and as-built documentation.
  • You design and implement automation solutions with a focus on DCS and PLC systems. (Prior knowledge of DCS Yokogawa is an asset)
  • You follow up actively on automation projects, ensuring compliance with set specifications and deadlines.
  • You have good knowledge of OT network construction and implementation.
  • You maintain close contacts with suppliers, reviewing bids and selecting appropriate partners for automation components.
  • You are responsible for the budget of automation projects, where cost control and optimization are essential.
  • You collaborate effectively with internal teams.
  • You communicate clearly on the progress of automation projects.

Who you are

  • You have Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • You have experience in leading automation projects, preferably for cleanroom facilities.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of DCS and PLC systems, preferably experience with Yokogawa.
  • You have experience with OT networking.
  • You have excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
