YOUR TASKS
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for a full-time 2-year postdoc position on arousal and attention regulation in adults with and without ADHD.
You will spend at least 70% of your assignment on scientific research. You will be part of a broader team of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and professors, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Roeljan Wiersema.
People with ADHD often have difficulty paying attention to a task for long periods of time, leading to problems in daily life. This is mainly the case with simple boring tasks and less so with more stimulating tasks, which suggests that providing the necessary cognitive effort in itself is not a problem, but only when this is necessary to maintain optimal arousal levels (i.e. the state regulation model of ADHD). Within this project we will test this hypothesis through attention research in adults with and without ADHD. Behavioral and cognitive neuroscientific methods (mainly EEG) will be used. The findings may have a significant impact on theory and practice.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You are expected to have a PhD in psychology or cognitive neuroscience (obtained max. 6 years ago. This term of 6 years is determined by the date written on the diploma and the starting date).
You have good writing skills, demonstrated by publications.
Prior experience with EEG, as well as good programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab) are required for this position. Experience with other neuroscientific methods is a plus but not necessary.
Experience with ADHD is not a requirement but is a plus.
Dutch Language skills would be useful but are not a requirement.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
We offer you a contract of indefinite duration with a maximum term of 2 year.
You will be working in a stimulating interdisciplinary team and environment (see also EXPLORA and team Effort). There will be regular meetings with the other researchers.
Access to multiple EEG systems (and also a research-dedicated MR scanner, TMS, and eye-tracking devices).
The contract starts as early as possible but will start no later than 01/01/2025.
Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1. Click here for more information about our salary scales.
